Teddy Herrera’s passion for demonstrating to our youth the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle came through the passing of his father, who suffered a cardiac arrest at the age of 47. As Teddy struggled to derive a positive message from such a tragedy, he found himself travelling the world, with only a backpack. It was through his travels where Teddy discovered the power of one dream, when you take that first step out your front door towards making it your reality. The day Teddy returned home from his travels, he observed a drastic cultural difference in the way children of the world lead their lives. He noticed how technology was hindering the imagination of the youth of America, by isolating them within their households.
The same day, Teddy founded his organization AA4CO (Across America for Childhood Obesity) to combat, ultimately, eliminating childhood obesity and to inspire kids of all sizes to actively chase their dreams against all odds. On June 5, 2010, Teddy decided to lead by example with a bicycle, no prior training and 36 dollars to ride 11,000-miles, reaching out to over 150 schools along the way. On Monday, September 12, 2011 Teddy will depart on his bicycle from his former elementary school (Foulks Ranch, Elk Grove, CA) embarking on his 2nd U.S. tour, a 10-month, 22,000-mile tour through 36 states of America. With the goal of reaching 500,000 youth, Teddy will hold over 500 speaking engagements at elementary, middle and high schools in over 100 cities nationwide to demonstrate to our youth how one dream and goal-setting can change the world! Teddy will also be a keynote speaker at numerous venues to share his story of determination, perseverance and success, while at the same time promoting health and fitness. The entire team at AA4CO looks forward to Teddy's arrival into your community, big or small, and hope that together, we can leave a positive and lasting impact on the youth of America!
